Did you know that Fosroc can supply mechanical packers and couplers for use with our Nitofill foam injection resins? They make the job of filling leaking concrete cracks and joints easier and more reliable, particularly when the cracks are deep or difficult to access.
Available in 10mm and 13mm diameters, the Nitofill Steel Packers are designed to be inserted into holes drilled along the length of cracks or leaking joints. They can then be injected with our Nitofill PU130 and PU150 polyurethane resins that react with water to form expanded foam to fill tricky to reach cracks and stop leaks. They can either be left in place or removed after the foam has cured.
The Nitofill Coupler 4 Jaw allows a quick connection between the packer and the pumping hose. While the packers can only be used once, the coupler can be reused several times with different packers.
The packers and couplers can be used with Fosroc's multi-purpose polyurethane injection resins, a part of the wide range of sealant solutions available from Fosroc.
Nitofill PU130
This hydrophobic semi-flexible resin is ideal for sealing larger cracks and voids, failed joints and fractures in concrete structures. It is also good for back grouting and sealing masonry and brickwork against water. Nitofill PU130 is a single component system that is mixed with a nominated ratio of Nitofill Accelerator adjust the reaction profile as needed for the job. It can produce a foam more than 29 times its original volume in just 55 seconds.
Nitofill PU150
Used mostly for sealing leaks, Nitofill PU150 is a hydrophilic resin, meaning the product reacts with available water to initiate expansion. It rapidly forms a highly resilient flexible seal that allows movement to the crack, fracture or joint. It offers excellent adhesion to concrete.
Why use Packers and Couplers?
As with all Fosroc products, the Nitofill Steel Packers and Nitofill Coupler 4 Jaw will help you get the job done right, the first time.
Here are the product benefits:
- Manufactured from steel for maximum strength
- Grease nipple valve on packers fits with 4 jaw coupler
- Connects and disconnects with pumping hose quickly with positive shut-off
- High pressure allows a reliable application of the PU resins
- Available in 10mm and 13mm diameters to suit your repair
- Packers can be left in place or removed after the polyurethane foam has cured
- Coupler can be reused several times with different packers.
Application tips
Here are the steps to follow to pump Nitofill PU130 or PU150 into cracks, leaks and voids.
- Drill appropriate-sized holes at a 45-degree angle to intersect the crack or joint approximately halfway through the thickness of the concrete. For example, on a 300mm wall, drill to intersect at 150mm depth.
- Drill holes at intervals along the length of each crack. The holes should be close enough to ensure the resin will penetrate along the crack to the next point of injection.
- Insert the injection packers into the pre-drilled holes.
- Start at the lowest point and work upwards. Pump Nitofill PU130 or PU150 slowly until resin appears on the face of the crack.
Application may vary depending on project conditions and circumstances. Read our Technical Data Sheet for more information about Nitofill Packers and Couplers.
